Oxtail Stew


  • 3.5 lbs / 1.5 kg Oxtail

  • 1 Grant's Gourmet Brown Stew Sauce

  • 1/4 cup Vegetable oil

  • 540ml x 2 Cans Butter Beans

  • 1 Liter Water (may need more)

  • 1 Lemon 🍋 or 1/4 cup Juice or 1/4 cup Vinegar

  • Spoon


  1. Wash oxtail with lemon juice

  2. Drain and wash with water

Seasoning - Grant's Gourmet Brown Stew Sauce

  1. Mix in thoroughly and cover. Marinate in the fridge for 30 mins or more


  1. In a 8" + diameter pot add in oil

  2. Heat on med-hi heat

  3. Add in seasoned oxtail slowly while stirring

  4. The oxtail may spring water, so keep stirring until the water evaporate and the frying process begins

  5. Fry the oxtail un you get the desired colour you want.

  6. Remove the oxtail and Drain all oil.

  7. Place oxtail back in the pot

  8. Add in the rest of the stew sauce along with two Grant's Gourmet Brown Stew JARS (700ml) of water.

  9. Cover pot and let simmer on low for 3 - 4 hours. For those who have pressure cookers you can pressure in in a fraction of the time.

  10. When the meat becomes tender to your liking Add in 2 Cans of butter beans and let simmer for approx 20mins. WARNING ⚠️ do not over cook the butter beans it will super thicken your gravy.

  11. Turn off stove after 10-20mins and let your oxtail rest.


You can serve this with your favorite sides.

Pro tip: let that oxtail sit in the fridge for 2+ hours and re-heat the amount as you need. The flavors then will excite you.
